Regional road 110 part 1

Regional road 110 is leading from Helsinki to Turku. The road is a former highway 1 and a parallel road to the current highway 1. The length of the road is 161 kilometers. This is the first part from Helsinki to Saukkola.

Regional road 110 actually starts at the Haaga roundabout. Here it diverges from regional road 120, or Vihdintie, which again starts at the northern end of Mannerheimintie. The road runs from Helsinki to Nummenkylä in Lohja and from there via Salo, Lahnajärvi, Muurla and Salo city centre to Kupittaa in Turku. The alignment of the road partly follows the old King's Road.

The road has different names in different municipalities. In Helsinki it is Pitäjänmäentie, in Espoo from the Helsinki border to Ring Road III it is Turuntie, further west Nupurintie, in Kirkkonummi Turuntie, in Salo from the city centre east Helsingintie and west by Valtatie, from Paimio onwards Helsingintie and in Turku Uudenmaantie.

Today, regional road 110 is partly used by local and pedestrian and bicycle traffic. The scenery varies from fields to forests and lakes, and along the road there are many sights of the former Highway 1 alignment. At least for the time being, the road is still highway-level with bypass lanes.
